Estate Grown Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris

At Inman Family Wines, we handcraft small lots of Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. The estate wines reflect the unique imprint of our Olivet Grange Vineyard, located amidst some of Sonoma County's and the Russian River Valley's most respected vineyards. We are committed to quality from grape to glass - from our sensitive, organic and sustainable viticultural practices to our attention to detail in the winemaking.

What sets us apart is that we are not making wines for ratings; we are making wines to be enjoyed with food. I listen to the vineyard, spending hours on end working with the vines throughout the growing season, carefully nurturing them until they mature and are ready for harvest in August and early September. By knowing my vines and their produce, when it comes to harvest dates, I am not swayed by sweetness, but I am persuaded by the underlying flavors. As a result our wines tend to have naturally lower alcohol and brighter natural acidity than many other wines from the Russian River Valley.

Our wines become balanced in the vineyard, not in the lab as I am opposed to the routine additions of acid, water, enzymes, and enological tannins. In my mind, mechanically removing alcohol and making additions would be necessary as the result of a mistake in the vineyard, not a step to be taken as a routine procedure to get the desired flavors, colors and aromas. By farming organically at Olivet Grange, and gently shepherding the grapes though their transformation into wine at the winery, we are creating Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir which stand out as pure representations of the varietals in flavor, texture and aroma.
