2005 OLIVET GRANGE VINEYARD PINOT NOIR Olivet Grange Vineyard (OGV) is the Inman Family's estate vineyard. This 10.5 acre vineyard is located at the junction of Olivet and Piner Roads amidst some of Sonoma County's and the Russian River Valley's most respected vineyards. The property is farmed organically. The 2005 OGV Pinot Noir has classic Russian River Valley characteristics, but shows a finesse and elegance which make this wine stand out. The 2005 OGV Pinot Noir was made to pair with food and its' subtle and nuanced flavors and lively acidity create a wonderful interplay with a range of cuisines. Stephen Tanzers IWC wrote about this wine in the May/June 2007 issue saying, "2005 Inman Family Wines Pinot Noir Olivet Grange Vineyard Russian River Valley ($45) Pale red. Vibrant, pure strawberry and raspberry aromas, with crisp mineral and fresh rose notes adding lift and complexity. Crisp, spicy redcurrant and strawberry flavors offer a compelling blend of finesse and power, with fine-grained tannins lending structural support. Finishes with energetic, tangy red berry flavors and excellent length. Lovely, graceful stuff." Rating: 91 points TASTING NOTES - Color: light, bright, ruby
- Aroma: dried rose petals, beeswax, cheery and black tea
- Flavor: Tart cherry, wild strawberry, pomegranate, rhubarb, cardamom, sandalwood and other exotic Indian spices. The texture is like silk-satin and wine is medium bodied and has fine tannins and the finish in long.
2006 RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY PINOT GRIS At Inman Family Wines we craft stylish and distinctly individualistic Pinot Gris that represents the unique growing conditions of the Russian River Valley. Our cool region and well-drained soils ripen the grapes slowly, allowing fully mature flavors to develop while preserving a crisp, elegance. Its delicate aromas, attractive flavors, opulent texture and balanced acidity make Pinot Gris an ideal food wine. The wine pairs nicely with vegetable dishes, appetizers and simply prepared fish such as salmon and halibut and shellfish, particularly crab and scallops. Pinot Gris' good acidity and slightly spicy characteristics complement the herbs and spices found in Thai and Indian cuisine. TASTING NOTES - Color: Pale Straw
- Aroma: floral stone fruit
- Flavor: The flavor profile of this wine falls somewhere between the lean and minerally 2004 vintage and the more fleshy and opulent 2005. The wine is well balanced, clean and refreshing. Typical of Pinot Gris, it is showing stone fruit and a hint of citrus on the palate and finishes with a flinty mineral character. The mouthfeel is generous for a Pinot Gris and the finish is long.
