Applewood's nineteen gracious and comfortable guest rooms are located in three Mediterranean villas surrounding a central terraced garden courtyard. The historic heart of the estate is Belden House. Built in 1922 by a prominent area banker, the mansion contains a great room with a massive stone fireplace and richly beamed ceiling, a sunny solarium/game room with it's own stone fireplace, skylights and walls of windows opening onto towering Redwoods and a cozy reading room. The former kitchen and two dining rooms are home to the inn's intimate cooking school, La Buona Forchetta. The inn's larger, more luxurious accommodations are found in the Piccola Casa and Gate House which mirror the historic architecture of the original mansion. All guests rooms have a plush queen bed with down comforter and pressed Italian linens, deluxe imported toiletries, cable TV, phone with data port and voicemail, CD/clock radio, thick Frette robes and either courtyard or garden views. The deluxe accommodations include gas fireplaces, air conditioning, whirlpool tubs or couples showers and a private courtyard, verandah or balcony. Wine glasses, corkscrew, ice buckets and mineral water are in all guest rooms and are refreshed daily. Each of Applewood's guest rooms is individually decorated with custom, tailored furnishings, designer fabrics and hand selected artwork and detailing that combine to create a sophisticated and relaxing retreat for our pampered guests.
